The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an All India Scheme initiated by the Union Ministry of Education and implemented at the colleges through the universities. This is an educational program in imparting education through Community Service. This helps the youth to build their character, maintain discipline, create a sense of dignity of labour and instill their social consciousness.

Objectives

The broad objectives of NSS are to:-

  • Understand the community in which they work
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disaster and Practice national integration and social harmony

Punarjjani-2018

A seven day camp for rebuilding the equipments and facilities of General Hospital Kanjirappally was carried out from 22nd December to 28th December. The volunteers created an asset of nearly 30 lakhs in one week. They serviced, cleaned and painted  various equipments there.126 beds, hundreds of drip stands, bed side lockers, screens ,operation tables were painted and repaired. The Camp was inaugurated by Sri Sebastian Kulathinkal, District member of Panchayath Kottayam.
